Testimonials
“I’ve found my core, and I’ve found my confidence. I feel stronger every single day, both physically and mentally, and that’s all thanks to my workouts with Stevie.”
“Stevie is, by a generous margin, the best personal trainer I have ever met. Her style is perfect, she constantly pushes me to my limit with a program that’s specifically tailored to my needs, abilities, and goals. But the best part? She’s super fun to train with! ”
“I have the very great honor of being Stevie’s brattiest client, but Stevie always meets me where I am and never loses patience with me. She doesn’t let me off the hook either! Despite my near-constant whining, she got me doing the work, seeing gains, and having fun at the same time. It’s a gift.”

Why Lift?
The mental benefits
It’s empowering! Getting stronger every day gives my clients a tremendous sense of accomplishment and boosts their confidence. It’s a little easier to believe in yourself once you’ve seen how strong you really are. You’re capable and powerful as hell, and there’s nothing like picking up something heavy to prove that to yourself. Lifting - and also exercise generally - is also wonderful for your mental health; a regular schedule of joyful movement helps immensely with my own depression and anxiety.
The physical benefits
Improving your muscle mass through strength training can improve your metabolism, your posture, and your overall feeling of well being. It can help you develop speed, power, and explosivity that transfers to other aspects of your life, so is an excellent method of cross-training for other sports. Strength training is also a great way to stay fit and well as you age. Women especially are prone to a decrease in bone density with ageing, and increasing your muscle mass can slow down that process, keeping you active, mobile, and strong for your entire life.
About Me
MY NAME IS stevie.
I was born and raised in the UK (I still mostly have the accent!) and spent several years in China as an international school teacher before relocating to Oakland in 2017. I’ve always been an active person, but stifling PE lessons and uncomfortable experiences with diet culture put me off seriously pursuing fitness until I was in college. Luckily, I discovered Muggle Quidditch (it’s exactly as nerdy as you’re imagining). I helped found my university’s Quidditch team and I began working out as a means to improve my sports performance. I later began running and eventually strength training to become a better runner.
From there, I was introduced to powerlifting, which focuses on three movements - the barbell squat, bench press, and deadlift. I came second in my first USPA meet, and while I no longer compete in powerlifting personally, I love coaching my powerlifting clients through their meets! In addition to powerlifting, I am also USA Weightlifting certified level 1 coach and I’m planning on competing in Olympic weightlifting, which focuses on the snatch and the clean and jerk. I’m also an avid obstacle course racer and have completed several Spartan races and Tough Mudders. Combining strength, endurance, and functionality is very important to me.
Outside of the gym, I can usually be found buried in a stack of sci-fi and fantasy novels, drinking my body weight in coffee, getting lost on a long hike, or snuggled up with my dogs.
